UP 'N UNDER II by John Godber

Directed by Neil Knipe

With the exception of Shakespeare, sequels are a rare thing in theatre. It's understandable. Most companies would shy away from the challenge.

Although Up 'n Under II features more training scenes, another foolish bet and a game of rugby played out for the audience in its final scenes - it's a very different beast to its predecessor. Dare we say a better play? Gone are the mock Shakespearean narrations and theatrical conventions but instead we get a more introspective play that digs deep into the characters and their personal struggles.

With any sequel there's an expectation to make it bigger and better than its predecessor. We worked very hard to achieve this and a huge amount of effort (and strength) went into making that final game a physical spectacle.
